  1. Dear Members of the Jatar family,

It would be nice if you could put up a photo of the Late Captain DK Jatar. We would like to see what this great hero looked like. I have searched the web but cannot find any photos of this hero. Also, a brief history of him would be very welcome.

    Thanks,

I was named Prafullachandra because on the day of my barsa ther was a full moon and my grandfather late Mr Nansaheb Talwalkar said we will call this child Prafullachandra. Everytime in Canada when they ask me for my first name I tell them P for Peter R for Ram and so on and say well you asked for it. It is too bad that not many Jatars are contributing to this website which Neeta and Sudhirmama have created well stay tuned I will write about my late parents and my children and my brothers and sister .

  3. Neeta you are welcome. We have a Talwalkar website and all Talwalkars from all walks of life from all over the world contribute. We know what is going on in everybody’s life we know the places they travel and get all kinds of information we can do the same with Jatars. We can know more about Babamama, Bhayamama, Balumama, Sudhirmama and their families. We can know more about Mangala, and her sister and Rukhminikaki or should it be Mami? We can know about Bhajekar family so take a step forward and start writing do not worry about making spelling or other mistakes as it is all in the family. We want to know about Bhagwats and Thakkars as well so come on guys and girls do write it is so much fun to get up and read from somebody from the other corner of the world as it is becoming very difficult to keep in touch with everybody

  14. Hello,

i m doing for my school some research on Indian Business families. I choose particulary the Kirloskar family. We have to draw a family tree along with the shareholding patterns.

I could already identify some of the family members. Even some of the women which are very difficult to find.

Could you help me out with one question? In case you know? How many daughter did Chandrakant and Suman Kirloskar have?
Do you know which year they were born? and to whom they got married? In which year?

You would help me really a lot to get a good mark.

    Thanking you!
    Sincerly

  15. Dear Nita,

thank you so much for the information. But this makes my work even more difficult.
I figured out that Shreekrant Kirloskar has a daughter called Roopa. It seems now her name is Roopa Gupta.
But that´s almost all i could find.
So are there more daughters in the family?
Did Shreekrant Kirloskar have more daughters?
What about Sukumar, Ajit and Vijay, do they have daughters?
Thanks a lot! your help is very much appreciated.

    Sincerly

    1. Dear Mr. Vasant Jathar,
My great-great-great grandfather’s brother Balwant Jatar had a son called Rajaram. However there is no way of knowing for sure whether he is your ancestor unless you do a dna test. However, Rajaram was probably born in the late 18th century so it cannot be be him. But as family names are often passed on, it is possible that you are a descendant. However, we are not Jathars, but Jatars. As far back as the 15th century our name has been Jatar, from what we know from the priest at our kuldevi, Vijaya Durga in Goa. At one time Jathars and Jatars were related, but that was very long back.
You can try and do a dna test. The only way to confirm is for some male member of your family to undergo a dna test from ftdna.com
      Nita.
